Our Story
Welcome to Whitmer & Company CPAs, LLP. Our firm was founded on March 1, 1974 by Steve Whitmer. His goal was to build an outstanding team of dedicated professionals and support staff, all with the singular goal of providing each and every client the highest level of service. Thanks to Steve's leadership, followed by former managing partner Janet Neumann, Whitmer & Company CPAs, LLP has grown into one of the region’s most respected firms.
Steve passed away on October 31, 2012. While he is no longer physically with us, the principles on which he founded the firm are still here: loyalty, accountability, professionalism, and respect, while maintaining the absolute highest degrees of integrity. He was passionate about giving every client great service. These are all qualities that Whitmer & Company CPAs, LLP strive for, every day.
Today, partners John Whitmer, Sharon Eddingfield and David Whitmer have combined public accounting experience of more than five decades. Together they lead a team of extremely talented professionals.

Mr. Whitmer joined the team in 2004 after working at another local public accounting firm. He became a partner in 2011 and began focusing on small businesses and their financial statements and tax returns. In addition, Mr. Whitmer developed extensive experience in compiling, reviewing and auditing financial statements for businesses, individuals and non-profit organizations. In the past Mr. Whitmer served on the board for the Cincinnati Center for Autism, but has more recently been giving back through coaching youth sports.
Sharon J. Eddingfield, CPA

Ms. Eddingfield joined the team in June 2003 and became a partner in 2021. Her experience includes an extensive focus on audits of federal and state-chartered credit unions as well as non-profit organizations. In addition, Ms. Eddingfield has extensive experience in compiling, reviewing, and auditing financial statements as well as tax return preparation for small businesses, individuals and non-profit organizations. Over the past nineteen years she has been involved in coaching youth sports and volunteering in various leadership roles with Undivided, Woman Camp, Small Groups and Kids Club at her local church.

Mr. Whitmer joined the team in May 2004 and became a partner in 2021. He has extensive experience in compiling financial statements, small business consultation, and all matters related to payroll and related filings. Mr. Whitmer's experience also includes preparation of tax returns for corporations, partnerships, non-profit organizations, trusts, and individuals. He currently is on the board of Linden Grove School and Changing Gears. In addition, he has been involved in coaching youth sports for the past twenty years.
